Is it time to commit economic suicide by overreacting to the Wuhan virus? This is not to suggest that the Wuhan virus is not a very serious issue, but it is not the only issue. It seems that every horrendous societal event takes another chunk of freedom from Americans. The tragedy of September 11, 2001, ripped away large swathes of liberty and that freedom will never be restored. Does the Constitution need to be amended to delineate “limited” freedom and liberty like a limited warranty on a new stove or refrigerator? What will happen when the next societal threat rears its ugly head? Will U.S. citizens be remanded to their homes at the discretion of government leaders?
Not since 1987 has the market took such a beating. Today, the market lost 3,000 points which amounted to about 13% of the total. In 1987, the number was 25%. The hysteria in the U.S.A. has reached epic proportions. Local and state government leaderships have lost sight of reality. As an example, Maricopa County in Arizona has closed its libraries. Yet, political leaders are telling citizens to stay home, don’t go to bars, restaurants, workout facilities, and many other public places such as zoos and parks. It seems logical that the closing of a library is counterintuitive, that is, if people are encouraged to stay home, then provide them with books, movies, and other sources of entertainment as they ride out this pandemic. But, this is government and government seldom makes sense. It does what it does best–make rules and regulations–anything to limit freedom. Today, the president and his merry maddening team of professionals successfully frightened the public to within an inch of their very, unsettled lives. The people have panicked and looked like wild-eyed creatures. The store shelves have been mauled with only mangled product left behind. In fact, most of the shelves are gleaming and empty. “There’s no bananas today”. Additionally, that goes for potatoes and a host of other products. Of course, this does not apply to the rich, famous, and well-connected. They will receive whatever they want, but most Americans will act like wild animals by grabbing whatever they can in a grocery store because they are relying on emotion rather than sound judgment and good common sense.
At this point, it is without question that the U.S. is headed for at least a recession, and a depression cannot be ruled out. This hysteria is destroying the heart of the middle-class economy–small business. Small business makes up about 75% of all business in this country; though, we usually only hear about massive corporate entities such as Amazon, Apple, Walmart, Microsoft, and McDonald’s. It has often been said that a country cannot be a country without borders. That is true, but a country without an economy is not a country either. Economic growth is imperative for the survival and stability of western civilization. Yet, we have allowed a communist country, China, to dictate to the entire western world. They have dealt this hand of evil upon us, and we dance to their eastern, alluring music. The Chinese have proven that they can bring, not only the U.S. to its knees, but the entire world.
Americans have generally believed that they are exceptional, i.e., they are not Europe, Asia, or Africa. If that is the case, why not act like it? What they are doing right now is behaving like frightened, immature school children by closing down their country. Chinese leaders must be thoroughly enjoying watching America twist and squirm in their seats of fear. China knows that it cannot best the USA, but it can cause America to look helpless, hapless, and hopeless. Is this the only Chinese export to hit the U.S. in the near future? Hardly. Now, that this model has been demonstrated, expect new and improved viruses–just like Tide washing detergent of 50 years ago. By the way, is Mexico still on the U.S. southern border? Should it be concluded that Mexico has Zero Wuhan virus cases? Is it time for the dwellers upon the earth, including the U.S., to shut down all business, block out the sun, and just lie down and die? That way the Wuhan virus won’t kill another human being.

March 17, 2020 at 5:55 amWendell, I had an entire great comment. Poof it was gone!! All I can say, I’m right there with you. Too many brainless people in the world falling for this made up hoax. I always say.. stupid people shouldn’t breathe or breed!! Even RN’s were laughing today when I had my medial block.. said they couldn’t believe just how insane this has become. They realize it’s not what it seems. Although, they took the necessary precautions, they know this is inflated and were laughing amongst themselves. China did this on purpose. One of the most unsanitary countries ever. In Obama’s reign of terror, the bird flu snd Swine flu occurred. He didn’t do jack crap!! The DemCraps babied him and kept playing it down. Different administration, now it’s a problem. 29,000 people died from the Swine flu..18,000 died from the bird flu, yet it was played down. LOL!! This is completely ludicrous and definitely BS!! Too many gullible people that are falling for fake news. Lots of brainless morons that won’t do their homework..including lots of illegals in the midst. Need I say more?!!!!
